She's WALKING!!

Finally!! Emma Grace is walking! I have video of her, but I had to use the old camera because we left the charger on vacation this summer to our new one. Well, now I can't find the cord that goes to the computer for the old camera! Anyway, long story short, we'll go and get a new charger for the new camera and catch her doing it again!! Pictures and video soon!!
***Pictures will have to do for now. Don't look at the mess - we've been inside all day!!!
****She wanted the camera - that is the only way I could get her over here!

Fay, GO AWAY!!!!

Tropical Storm Fay has been lingering for the past couple of days - and we are tired of her! School was cancelled today and it has done nothing but pour down rain ALL day! We are trapped inside our house, still in our PJ's (it's 3:35pm). Truth be known, I just brushed my teeth! YUCK! Anyway, I guess it's been a good day for some much needed rest. The beginning of the school year has been a little tiring - for Grayson and I - so the rest was welcoming. I just hate spending a good "free" day indoors! Hopefully Fay is going to be moving on soon!

First Day of School!

David brought Grayson to school today, since I had to get there so early. Video camera in one hand Grayson's big boy hand in the other - I see them coming down the hall. I run to get my digital and turn it on. THE BATTERY WAS DEAD!:( How many times has THAT happened? I was so mad! Anyway, both of our days turned out to be great. I have a cute class and Grayson seems to really like his two teachers! He LOVES to come down to my classroom at the end of the day! We will take a picture of him at school and pretend it was the first day!! Haha!

Cute room!

My best friend told me about the cute dots that you can buy at Lowes. They are called Wall Pops. You can peel them off the wall and re-stick them. They are great! Look what I did to Emma Grace's room.....

Where did summer go?

It seems as if just yesterday I was turning out the lights & closing the door to another (TIRING) year in Kindergarten! This past year was a trying time for me and it left me questioning myself as a teacher. This week, though, I've been tirelessly getting ready for another group of excited five year olds! I have a different perspective on the beginning of the school this year, because my OWN child will be going. He will be starting Pre-k at my school, (just 2 doors down) and we are both very excited! After teaching for 14 years, I finally get to see first-hand the true excitement of a child who is entering school for the first time! He is so ready for this - and I am ready to turn him over. I am trusting another person to do all the things that I can't during the day, to nurture, to care, to help him, to mold him and to accept him as he is and love him for it! As for the 20 or so 5 year olds in my class this year - I shall do the same!!! Grayson truly loves to learn and I hope he always will!! As for my own doubts - I have a sense of peace about the upcoming year and the students that I will have. I'm sure I'll let you know throughout the year about the "happenings" in Mrs. Cook's Kindergarten!

Bad Hair Day!

The pictures speak for themselves!!!! Good thing I have children who STILL nap! They must have slept REAL good on this day!
