Where did summer go?

It seems as if just yesterday I was turning out the lights & closing the door to another (TIRING) year in Kindergarten! This past year was a trying time for me and it left me questioning myself as a teacher. This week, though, I've been tirelessly getting ready for another group of excited five year olds! I have a different perspective on the beginning of the school this year, because my OWN child will be going. He will be starting Pre-k at my school, (just 2 doors down) and we are both very excited! After teaching for 14 years, I finally get to see first-hand the true excitement of a child who is entering school for the first time! He is so ready for this - and I am ready to turn him over. I am trusting another person to do all the things that I can't during the day, to nurture, to care, to help him, to mold him and to accept him as he is and love him for it! As for the 20 or so 5 year olds in my class this year - I shall do the same!!! Grayson truly loves to learn and I hope he always will!! As for my own doubts - I have a sense of peace about the upcoming year and the students that I will have. I'm sure I'll let you know throughout the year about the "happenings" in Mrs. Cook's Kindergarten!
